 alth informatics\, held every two years out of three in Europe. Scient
 ific presentations are from more than 40 countries and all continents.
  Its attendance is around 500–1000 participants especially from 32 E
 uropean member countries of the European Federation for Medical Inform
 atics (EFMI). The MIE 2009 conference will be held in Sarajevo\, Bosni
 a and Herzegovina\, from 30 August until 2 September 2009.\n\nAim and 
 scope\nThe main theme of MIE 2009 is MEDICAL INFORMATICS IN A UNITED A
 ND HEALTHY EUROPE. New medical\, biomedical\, and health informatics b
 ridges must be built between the western and eastern parts of the Euro
 pean world. For this purpose\, a panel of high-level scientists and he
 alth care managers will be invited to participate and give keynote spe
 eches\, tutorials\, and organise in-depth workshop discussions.
