(Background/under revision) EHTEL-Like Organisations (ELOs)
EHTEL has created a working group to promote and develop, at local, regional and national levels, initiatives close to EHTEL's mission: contributing to the implementation of the broad use of information and communication technologies (ICT) products, solutions and services in all health-related activities.
Objectives of the Group:
- to offer EHTEL-members who represent national organisations a network for collaboration, information exchange and joint action.
- to stimulate the contact and exchange with other EHTEL-initiatives.
- to stimulate the creation of forums, organisations and other groups at country or regional level to facilitate the development of health telematics and international collaboration.
Participants in the Network, January 2003:
- ATG, Germany
- EDISANTE, France
- NICTIZ, The Netherlands
- MEDCOM, Denmark
- STAKES, Finland
- KITH, Norway
- MEDTEL, Czech Republic
- FIASO, Italy
- Carelink, Sweden
Work Plan for 2003:
The network has had two meetings, with an increasing number of participants. At the last meeting in Rome, 31 January 2003, the participants discussed the activities for 2003.
The network has decided that it will meet 3-5 times during the year. The next meeting will be in Hamburg in June.
The participants will bring topics, questions and proposals to be discussed at the meetings. The individual members will also play the role of “contact” points for those in the network, looking for information on specific issues in the participating countries or organisations.
Mats Larson, on the Board of Directors of EHTEL, will act as coordinator of the network during 2003.
Deliverables:
The prime objective for the group in 2003 is to establish the network. Four meetings are planned and the exchange between the members is expected to increase.
The true value and outcome of the network depends on the ambition and plans of the participating organisations. This is expected to evolve during the year.
When the network finds it appropriate, sub-groups will be started to address specific issues that are vital to its members. In this process, coordination with other EHTEL activities and groups will be important.
The network will actively engage in the process of supporting new national organisations in Europe – it is the network’s ambition to have at least 5 new members joining the network during 2003.
Financial Income for the Year 2003:
The participants will have to cover all their costs for participating in the network. EHTEL will cover the costs for some of the joint activities at the meetings. Network-members will act as host at the meetings, covering the costs for meeting-facilities, etc.
If additional activities, which cannot be covered within the budget, are initiated during the year, participating members will have to cover the costs.
