Community Update

We start 2021 with a look back at last year's Symposium and its achievements. It provided us with a wealth of inspiring ideas. In case you missed it the first time around, you can now revisit this important 2020 event.
Looking forward in 2021, there is a promising wave of helpful, new technologies in front of us. They will help us to care for the physical and mental health impacts of COVID-19. There are important training opportunities too.
EHTEL will continue to monitor closely these innovations and training options.
Focusing on the community level and local ecosystems is becoming increasingly important. Since EHTEL is itself a community, we are keen on such an approach. In 2021, we will keep on informing and inspiring our members with ideas, information, and findings on the most current and urgent eHealth topics.
We very much look forward to working with you in 2021.
On 2/3 December 2020, almost 300 people from some 40 countries joined an EHTEL two-day Thought Leaders Symposium to brainstorm and create together the digital health and data future.
EHTEL is following closely the roadmap towards an operational European Data Space, established by the Commission in its European Data (and Artificial Intelligence) Strategy released in February 2020.
COVID-X, the acceleration programme funded by the European Union – as part of the response plan to defeat COVID-19 through the power of data – has an Open Call due to close on 27 January 2021.
Scotland’s Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI) is using facilitated reading and storytelling in a new project with public libraries, supported by SMCI Associates – a Scottish-based consultancy.
eMedLab´s Digital Health MSc is a one-of-a-kind international master´s programme that provides students with first-hand knowledge on health systems, managing change, and digitalising healthcare direct from industry and public sector partners.
Platforms are really coming to the fore. The Smart & Healthy Ageing through People Engaging in Supportive Systems (SHAPES) is an innovation action. Its aim is to build, pilot and deploy a large-scale, Europe-wide standardised open platform.
Despite the many challenges produced by COVID-19 last year, EHTEL used the past 12 months constructively to make many organisational and technological changes.
Gatekeeper is a European Multi Centric Large-Scale Pilot on Smart Living Environments. The main objective of the project is to enable the creation of a platform that connects healthcare providers, businesses, entrepreneurs, and elderly citizens and the communities they live in.
