EHDEN

EHDEN 1

The EHDEN project – European Health Data & Evidence Network – is a large European consortium. About 140 partners, that are operating in the digital health innovation chain, participate in it. EHDEN’s mission is to provide a new paradigm for health data discovery and analysis in Europe. It does this by building a federated data network from partners across Europe, focused primarily on clinical research.

EHDEN focuses on challenges like federation, harmonisation, community, education, and on achieving important outcomes at the European level.

Thanks in part to the push provided by the EHDEN project, academic research groups, data partners (e.g. hospitals and registers), and small and medium-sized enterprises, are all now paying more and more attention to the different aspects that characterise the set-up of digital health hubs in Europe.

The specific aspects that are dealt with in the project, concerning the sciences, relate to the observation of Health Data of the OHDSI Europe programme and the Common Data Model (CDM) of Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (called OMOP). OHDSI Europe is led by the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands.

EHDEN’s last open call for new data partners was open from 12 October 2022 until 17.00 CET on 11 November 2022.

About CCPP

CCPP is a longstanding member of EHTEL, who has become part of the EHDEN project.

CCPP is a fully integrated multi-speciality clinical centre based in the centre of Milan in Italy. It provides both inpatient and outpatient services mainly for neurological patients.

CCPP is also directly involved in the start-up of the new “OHDSI Italia” community. The community aims to become a reference point and meeting point for many Italian use cases for two reasons: to enhance the mutual experiences and approaches to the international community and to address typical, national issues. CCPP is one of the 13 partners in OHDSI Italia, and three CCPP professional colleagues are directly engaged in the work.

What’s in it for EHTEL members?

Like EHTEL, in October 2022, the EHDEN project became a signatory to the “stakeholders’ consensus response to the proposed European Health Data Space”.

As an EHTEL member, as well as an EHDEN project member, CCPP expects to benefit from a wider knowledge provided by the association on the European Health Data Space, including opportunities to explore and expand the secondary re-use of health data for research purposes and obtain insights on regulatory matters.

The European Health Data & Evidence Network has received funding from the Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 Joint Undertaking under grant agreement no. 806968. The Joint Undertaking is supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and EFPIA, a large association which represents the biopharmaceutical industry in Europe.
