PROCare4Life is an EU funded project proposing an integrated, scalable and interactive care ecosystem, easily adapted to several chronic diseases, care institutions and end-user needs. Consisting of 14 partners from 6 EU Member states, PROCare4Life promotes quality of life for older adults. A broad range of collective knowledge and expertise is brought together by PROCare4Life partners: key opinion leaders and influencers, from research and innovation to large-scale deployment in digital health; from interoperability and standards, to health service innovation; and from the technical to the policy levels.

The project foresees three large-scale pilot studies:

  • Pilot 1, concluded in 2020, evaluated the usability of the monitoring devices of the ProCare4Life platform in the real life of elderly with Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s and other dementia.
  • Pilot 2, recently completed, investigated the functionality and acceptability of the integrated platform of ProCare4Life, whose development and advancement offer users general recommendations on physical activity and cognitive games.
  • Pilot 3, ongoing, aims to evaluate the impact on the quality of life of the final digital platform, which provides personalized recommendations on physical activity and cognitive rehabilitation of patients with neurodegenerative disease and other chronic conditions, and stress management of caregivers.

Italian EHTEL member, Casa di Cura Privata del Policlinico di Milano (CCPP), now IGEA, one of the clinical centers involved in the projects with the role of clinical coordinator, provides an ideal setting for promoting translational research in Neurodegenerative Diseases by facilitating the rapid transfer of research knowledge to the clinical environment. The organization is in fact improving ICT-enabled projects with academic, research and industrial partners in order to extend the range of services aimed to an effective continuity of care.

IGEA was also a key member of the vCare project consortium, which held its Final Conference in August 2022.

As PROCare4Life reaches its end in summer 2023, it will be organizing lots of activities in the first half of 2023. It encourages people to sign up to its newsletter
