Sorsix successfully completed testing at the IHE-Europe Connectathon Week which took place in June in Vienna, Austria. The firm demonstrated full support for the new xShare Yellow Button standard under the European Health Data Space (EHDS), which earned it considerable success. Sorsix attained the Silver Industry Label — the highest certification level awarded at the event. The award positions Sorsix’s flagship product Pinga® as a future-proof solution for EU-wide digital health interoperability.

What is the xShare Yellow Button?

The Yellow Button is being developed under the European EHRxF Standards & Policy Hub as part of the xShare initiative. The button is a vital tool for achieving the EHDS vision of patient-driven data exchange. The button enables patients to download, upload, and one-time share core medical records in a secure, standards-based format. Example records include patient summaries, e-prescriptions, radiology, and discharge reports.

Interoperability isn’t paperwork it’s patient safety at digital speed,” said Dalibor Frtunik, CEO of Sorsix and Vice-President of EHTEL. “By passing the EHDS Yellow Button tests, we’ve shown that hospitals don’t need to wait for the 2029 deadline to offer compliant, patient-driven data exchange they can start today, with the systems they already use.

✅ A great way to share your own dedication to the Yellow Button is to answer xShare’s Call, to show your own readiness for applying the button. The Call is now extended to 31 July 2025.

What tests were passed by Sorsix at IHE-Europe Connectathon 2025?

At the 23-27 June 2025 Connectathon’s Plugathon track, Sorsix successfully passed five live tests:

  • Download: exporting Patient Summary in the EEHRxF FHIR® format
  • One-time Share: generating Smart Health Links with secure, single-use access
  • Upload: receiving medical data from external consumer apps or patient portals
  • Link Consumption: retrieving and displaying shared data
  • Lifespan Control: enforcing auto-expiry of shared links as per Smart Health Links specifications

These tests were evaluated against strict checks on technical and semantic conformance which are outlined in the official xShare Implementation Guide.

What is the xShare Industry Label?

silver

The xShare Industry Label is a voluntary, non-regulatory certification scheme designed to help digital health solution providers prepare for the EHDS. It has three levels of recognition: Bronze, Silver, and Gold: they allow organisations to progress from self-assessment to independent third-party validation, based on their readiness. It forms part of an ambassador programme. The label acts as a sandbox and preparation tool to assess technical maturity and interoperability readiness. It helps manufacturers to demonstrate conformance to EHDS interoperability requirements and prepare for full compliance by 2029 and 2031. It also supports a wide range of stakeholders in navigating the evolving digital health ecosystem.

Why do standards and success matter?

The EHDS is the EU's flagship initiative designed to ensure health data can flow securely across borders for care, research, and policy. From 2029 onwards, electronic health record (EHR) systems in Member States must support certified formats for two major uses of data:

  • Primary Use (e.g. patient summaries, laboratory results, and imaging)
  • Secondary Use (e.g. public health and research)

Testing and application of relevant standards and labels are a key step towards eventual implementation of the EHDS.

What is the EHDS Timeline for Application?

Expect to have to implement the EHDS-related standards according to this timeline for the entry into application of the implementing act(s) relevant to EHR systems.
