    AI in Europe: up-and-coming developments

    Examining the future of AI in Europe, a World Health Organization (WHO) working group has published a 40-page report on Europe’s AI readiness from a clinical perspective. EHTEL has selected two specific areas from the report’s five areas of strategic value. They are: clinical documentation and workflow and predictive analytics and risk assessment.     Europe’s AI readiness in health: What digital health implementers need to know

    Artificial intelligence (AI) use in healthcare is moving ahead rapidly. The WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO Europe), has produced an informative report co-funded by the European Commission. EHTEL has examined the report in depth, and translated the survey results into five key findings. In it there are the implications for implementers both today and in the immediate future. EHTEL adds further value by identifying three top priorities for digital health leaders.

    The Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA): educational needs, content, and open educational materials

    Europe has spent more than 15 years developing cross-border health data exchange. Much of that work is now embedded in the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The XIA (Xpanding Innovative Alliance) project, which supports the implementation of the EHDS, is making available plenty of ideas, activities, and resources about supportive open educational materials.

    BeWell provides a rich array of resources: A skills strategy and 12+ digitally-related skills courses

    The BeWell project, an Erasmus+ project which focused on the upskilling and reskilling of Europe’s health workforce, held its final conference on 7 May 2026. On the previous day, 6 May 2026, it organised a BeWell Partnership meeting.
